So I've got an old CPU (2500K). Want to overclock this and found some good guides but still a little hesitant. Any help would be good.

Setup:
cpu: i5-2500k
mobo: asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3
I do have an aftermarket fan for OC

What power supply do you have? It's the only thing that could potentially limit you if it's rubbish.

I would aim at 1.34 volts and just try to increase the clockrate until you fail to boot, then dial it back a step. Then you can do the burn-in tests to see that it's stable. (Just use Intel's own test, Prime95 is unnecessarily brutal for consumer use)

Can I OC just by increasing the multiplier or do you suggest against it? and increase voltage as well?

Multiplier is what you want to change. Leave the front side bus alone, usually can only get 40-50mhz out of that anyway.

Note that the memory will clock up with your processor, so make sure to manually step down the memory to where it belongs.
